We’re two sisters who grew up in Greece, New York. We both left the Rochester area for college. SKY found her way back in 1999, after seven years in Philadelphia. Having moved from Rochester to Albany to Atlanta to New York City, I returned in December 2006. A lot changed in the 15 years I was away (most notably me). But Rochester’s unique blend of authentic hospitality and livable city environment remains. It wouldn’t take a lot of effort to figure out our names. I wish I was brave enough to immediately tell you. But after 12 years working online, I’m still nervous about exposing our personal information. We won’t try hard to hide it, but it might take us some time to “go naked.”
SKY
SKY is a single high school math teacher and champion runner. She won the Chase Corporate Challenge a few years ago. She lives in “I-town” with her two kitties — Jinx and Franchesca (the most awesome cats in the world). She doesn’t coach the math-letes, but she is senior class advisor and one kick a** AP calculus teacher. (Did I mention she is single and gorgeous?)
JAY
I’ve been married to MGH since 1999. I’ve worked for several big media companies and spent more than 12 years working in news. I loved living in New York City. I would recommend it to anyone who has even a fleeting moment of desire to live there. We came back to find some balance and tackle the challenges we’re facing starting a family. Of all the place I’ve lived, Rochester has the best combination of city living and affordable housing. When we moved back, we bought a 107-year-old four-square on an historic street in Upper Monroe (And for the record, I could have bought and completely paid off my mortgage with all the rent I paid over my years in New York).
