My sister and I might not be good with deadlines…
As you may have gathered, Sunday night is family dinner night. We alternate houses. I use it as the opportunity to try out new recipes on people who will lie and tell me it tastes good–even if it doesn’t.
JAY unknowingly uses it as an opportunity to remind me just how un-good a cook I really am. Either way its always a good time. However, the evening is made all the more enjoyable when there is good TV to watch.
MHG and I kick off the evenings TV festivities with a call and answer version of “I’m Leslie Stahl,” “And I’m Andy Rooney.” But my favorite Sunday program is The Amazing Race. JAY and I were supposed to apply to be a part of next season. We have this whole “What would Charla do?” strategy.
But we missed the deadline…
For those T.A.R. fans out there, you know what last night was. It was the final episode of the season. Who would win? The annoying father/’daddy-issue’ daughter team? The permanently-tattooed-during-the-race grandfather/grandson duo? Or would it be the uber-cool hippies?
After four continents, 10 cities and almost 30,000 miles, we were dying to knowwho would win the million dollar prize.
And how did we celebrate the occasion?
With an Amazing Race of our own, of course. You think I’m kidding– but after five hours, four dishes, and some ridiculous amount of finger injuries, JAY and I enjoyed a meal made up of food from around the world. It was awesome!
Oh yeah, but does anyone know who won? We missed the finale episode…
(Starting earlier is definitely what Charla would have done.)

(The menu was inspired by countries on the race — Eggplant Timballo (Italy), Blood Orange Salad (U.S.), Coconut Shrimp with Crispy Shallot, Basil and Sesame Sprinkle (because “we like Thai Food”) and Fast Brioche Tarts (France)
